Customer Review: pros and cons...not perfect but pretty nice

I have had this thing for about a month now and have used it about 12 times I'd guess. I've only cooked short grain high quality sushi type rice from California that I always wash thoroughly before cooking in it.
Pros, in about 15 minutes I have AWESOME rice, hot and ready to eat. Before on the stove top using a regular pot, it took a few minutes to get the water boiling, then 20 minutes to simmer, then 30 minutes off the heat with the top on to get rice that was not quite as good as this turns out. So, it's very nice now to get super awesome tasting rice in only about 15 minutes.
Cons, if I don't remove the rice immediately when it switches to "warming" mode the stuff will burn. I've only cooked one and two cups at a time, maybe if I cooked more it would be better, but seriously, the second the switch pops from cooking to warming mode I whip off the top and fluff the rice and then get it out of there. So as far as "setting it and forgetting it", this ain't going to happen, at least not with this type of rice.
After dumping the rice into the pot, and then filling with water, I would recommend that you stir it up thoroughly. This helps prevent clumping and assures that all the rice is cooked evenly. The first time I just dumped it in there, along with the water, and some pieces were not cooked. after learning to stir it up good it has turned out excellent each time. Also, like others have pointed out, the non-stick coating will scratch if you even look at it wrong. Don't even use a plastic spoon. I use a soft rubber spatula to fluff the rice when it's done, scoop the rice out when it's done, and also for the initial stirring.
The rice I cook DOES turn out MUCH better using this than a regular pot on the stove. As long as you can get it out of the pot as soon as it's done you'll probably love it also. Was it worth $50? Well, before it could take me as long as an hour to get rice that wasn't quite as good as this. Now I can get AWESOME rice fully cooked hot and fresh ready to serve in about 15 minutes (not including rice washing time). So, if eating your rice a lot sooner and having it taste a lot better, in my opinion, then $50 is a pretty darn good deal. I hope this helps somebody decide! :)
